So Very Thankful

We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Mia seemed to really enjoy her first Thanksgiving. We had dinner at our house with a bunch of family. She ate a little 'big people food' for the first time. She has been eating her baby fruits and veggies for a while, but on Thanksgiving she was able to enjoy a few bites off of mommy's plate. She had a little mashed potato, sweet potato casserole and her favorite, corn (I popped the insides of the kernel out of the shell and she ate the mushy insides) She LOVED it!!

We had more to be thankful for this year than ever before. Our beautiful daughter was born healthy and perfect and we enjoy every minute of her! The true meaning of Thanksgiving was more clear to me this year than ever! Here are some pics of our little turkey on Thanksgiving day!!

God Bless Amelia Grace

On November 11, 2007 was Mia's Baptism day. It was a beautiful day and ceremony. We had a nice reception at the house after. Mia was great during the very long ceremony, she even ended up falling asleep during it. She looked absolutely beautiful in her gown. This dress will become a very special family heirloom as it was made from my wedding gown (thank you Vicky!). Here are some pictures from her very special day.

Big, Big, Balloons!!

We took Mia to the Ballunar Liftoff Festival at NASA this Saturday and we had so much fun!! We hung out in the VIP tent with some friends from work, ate some good food, and walked around the vendor booths. Daddy could not help but buy Mia her first piece of "carnival junk"! But I must admit that she LOVED it. It was a light up necklace thing with a big light up dolphin attached to it. She especially loved it at night when the it was blinking all different colors - she just stared, and chewed, and stared, and chewed on it all evening! She really seemed to enjoy looking at all the big balloons too. We stayed for the balloon glow and we had a great view from the VIP tent. Here are a few pictures to enjoy......

The Sweetest Little Ladybug!

Mia truly enjoyed her 1st Halloween! I am sorry it took so long to get the pictures up! We went to Nick's cousin Sissy and Hondo's house for a fun block party and some trick or treating. We actually took Mia in her stroller and people were more than happy to drop candy in her bucket (which was sitting on the top of her stroller just as a prop), even though we told them "no thanks, she cant eat candy yet" they were insistent and so Mommy and Daddy did not mind getting some candy! :) She really enjoyed seeing all the kids in their costumes and watching all of the action! Here are a couple of pictures I took of her in our front yard in her costume.
Oh, I also need to add that Mia now waves (as is captured in the 1st photo below) It is just the cutest darn thing I have ever seen!! She waves all the time, when you tell her "hello", "goodbye", when she sees you walk into a room, or if you wave to her, she even waves at the dogs when she sees them!..........SO CUTE!!

Beauty Queen

Mia was in her first pageant on Sunday and low and behold.......my girl won!!!! There were around 20 babies and my Mia got 1st place, she was named baby Queen of the Sunburst pageant for Galveston county. She got a sash, trophy that is taller than her, and a tiara! So cute! She also won her entry fee of $200 to be paid for the state competition that will take place in May. Luckily state is in Houston so we will probably go ahead and try out a "BIG" pageant for fun.

I was so proud that I had to fight back tears! Don't worry Aunt Hollie, I wont be one of those freak pageant moms that puts my baby in a tanning bed and put fake teeth on her!!!! We are just having a little fun.

She did a great job and held up really well even though she was tired and hungry, here are a couple of pictures that her Aunt Amanda took. It was a pretty fun experience!

P.S. I don't need any pageant to tell me that my daughter is the most beautiful baby, I already knew that......but it sure does feel good!!! hee hee hee! :)

Baby Bling

We got Mia's ears pierced yesterday! She did very well. She cried just a few seconds after each ear. When we were all done she was playing and laughing with her Aunt Amanda within a minute!! She of course, looks adorable! She has her bling going on with her little sparklers! Here are a few pics. Check out that face on the top picture....my little diva!

Ren Fest

I took Mia to her first Renaissance Festival on Saturday. She really enjoyed all the sights. It was extremely hot but she handled it very well, I was sure to keep her cool and hydrated. We went with my cousins Heather and Casey and we met some of our friends there - Yvonne, David (happy birthday), Kelly, Chris, Karen and Michelle. We had a ton of fun, even though we were melting! I have a few pictures to share, Nick the family picture taker, was not able to go so that means there are minimal pictures and poor quality, I don't like taking pictures, I feel it impedes on my enjoyment of whatever we are doing! LOL Plus, I usually have the camera on the wrong setting since my disinterest in it keeps me from understanding how to work the camera, I am no natural like my friend Jenny is! A goal of mine is to make picture taking a priority when Nick is not around because even though I do not enjoy it, I know that capturing those precious memories is so important!! I am looking foward to next year when Mia is walking around for Ren Fest so that we can have her wear some of those adorable fairy wings!!

6 months old

My Mia turned 6 months old on September 20th. I now understand why people STRESS with great EMPHASIS the fact that your baby will age extremely fast! I already see little tiny new babies and can't believe that she was once that small! She is sitting up on her own for a long while before she falls over, she talks up a storm (and even though people think she does not know what she is saying she only babbles "ma-ma-ma-ma-ma" When in minor distress, as if she is calling me, so, think what you wish, ha ha) and I truly stand by my word that she is a genius (hey - don't all parents think this of their kids!) last night while dressing her after her bath I handed her the closest object to me that she can play with to distract her, happened to be one of her shoes, and she proceeded to bring it to her foot, not her mouth - which of course is her favorite destination for objects in hand! She knew where it went!! Genius, I tell ya! You all won't be laughing when she graduates high school at age 12!! ha ha :)

Here are a couple pics of our little Einstein at age 6 months:
